Drug Formulation

1 liang of elephant skin, 1 piece of donkey hoof (i.e., suspended hoof),3 egg whites, 7 Mu Bie seeds, 2 qian of snake shed, 4 qian of cicada shed, 3 qian of human hair, 6 qian of pangolin scales, 21 cun of locust branches, 21 cun of elm branches, 21 cun of mugwort branches, 21 cun of willow branches, 21 cun of mulberry branches, yellow丹, and 3 jin of beeswax mixed with sesame oil.

Processing

Soak the herbs for 7 days, then decoct as usual. Filter out the sediment. For every 1 jin of clear oil, add 7 liang of orpiment and decoct into a paste. Add 5 qian of beeswax and melt until evenly blended. Then add 5 qian of dragon’s blood, 3 qian of catechu, 3 qian of frankincense, 3 qian of myrrh,5 qian of calcined oyster shell, and 5 qian of Wulingzhi. Grind these six ingredients into an extremely fine powder, mix them into the ointment to form a paste, remove from heat, and apply as a poultice.
