Drug Formulation

Processed grain sprouts 4 liang (half raw, half roasted. Preparation: Use 3–4 sheng of glutinous rice; soak in juice extracted from pounded Chinese chive leaves for several days. When sprouts emerge, remove, sift, and place in a container; sun-dry slightly until just dry, then sprinkle with Chinese chive juice until the sprouts retain a greenish hue; sun-dry completely and set aside for use), ginseng 1 liang (if unavailable, substitute with codonopsis or astragalus),2 liang of water caltrop (roasted), 4 liang of lotus seed kernels (remove the core and keep the kernel; place the kernels with their skins inside a pig’s stomach and boil thoroughly; remove from the stomach and sun-dry).

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Boil one lotus leaf to extract its juice, then mix the powder with the lotus leaf juice to form a paste and roll into pills the size of mung beans.
