Yin-Nourishing and Heart-Tonifying Decoction,The Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian is inherently weak by constitution. During the day, mental exertion and emotional strain, and at night, sexual activity that depletes essence, cause the vital energy to become deficient and unable to nourish the spirit. This leads to fire invading the Heart Meridian, resulting in intermittent heat in the palms, soles, and buttocks; a restless heartbeat; disturbed sleep; anxiety and restlessness; waking at the hour of Zi (11 PM–1 AM); and returning to bed in a state of fatigue by dawn. The center of the tongue appears parched and dry,the little fingers of both hands occasionally feel suddenly hot as if struck by lightning, coming and going intermittently; one feels only a steaming heat in the breath entering and exiting the mouth and nose, with dryness resembling thirst; there is no foul, putrid odor or groaning sounds; however, the tendons and bones feel steaming hot without any wandering symptoms.

Drug Formulation

3 qian of Prepared Rehmannia, 1 qian of Angelica sinensis, 1 qian of Cinnamomum cassia, 1 qian of Ophiopogon, 1 qian of Raw Rehmannia, 1 qian of Apricot Kernel, 2 qian and 5 fen of White Peony Root, 1 qian of Licorice, 1 qian of Poria, 1 pinch of wheat, and 3 jujubes.
