Formula

30 grams of daylily buds, 30 grams of purslane (or 60 grams of fresh purslane), and salt and MSG to taste.

How To Make

Soak the daylily buds in cold water for 2 hours. Remove, drain, cut into sections, and set aside. Wash and chop the purslane. Place both the daylily buds and purslane in a pot, add an appropriate amount of water, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add salt and MSG, stir until well blended, and return to a boil before serving.

Efficacy

Clears liver heat and dispels dampness. Suitable for premature ejaculation caused by damp-heat in the liver meridian, characterized by excessive sexual desire, premature ejaculation, dizziness and vertigo, dry mouth and throat, restlessness and pain in the flanks, yellowish-red urine, or painful and scanty urination, a red tongue with a yellow or thick yellow coating, and a string-like and rapid pulse.

Daylily buds (Jin-zhen-cai) assume the leading (chief) role. Purslane (Ma-chi-xian) serves as the deputy herb; cold and sour in character, it travels through the Liver, Large Intestine meridians to clear heat and cool blood. Salt and MSG to taste serves as the envoy herb, harmonizing the whole, working to harmonize the flavor and unite the separate actions into one. The overall effect is to clear liver heat and dispel dampness, restoring balance within the damp-heat and heat framework.
