Drug Formulation

Achyranthes root (sliced, soaked in wine, and roasted) 2 liang; Cistanche (soaked in wine for 3 days, then roasted dry) 2 liang; Psoralea (roasted) 1 liang; Fenugreek 1 liang; Fennel seeds (roasted) 1 liang; Goji berries 1 liang; Melia fruit 1 liang; Morinda root (core removed) 1 liang;White Aconite Root (roasted) 1 liang, Aconite Root (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed) 1 liang, Rock Salt 1 liang, Notopterygium (with root tip removed) 1 liang, Angelica (with root tip removed) 1 liang, Sichuan Pepper (with seeds and closed pods removed, stir-fried until sweating) 1 liang, White Tribulus (stir-fried) 1 liang, Astragalus (chopped, stir-fried) 1 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder and divide into three portions. Use two of these portions to make pills the size of a Paulownia seed by boiling them with a paste made from wine in which Achyranthes and Cistanche have been soaked beforehand.

Instructions for Use

Take 20 to 30 pills per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with warm salted wine. After one month of treatment, a flush will appear on the face, warmth will be felt below the navel, appetite for food and drink will improve, and drowsiness will diminish—these are signs of effectiveness. The remaining medicine is made into a powder.For abdominal pain caused by exposure to cold, mix 1 qian bi of the medicine with mutton kidney or mutton, add half a qian bi of rock salt, roast until fragrant and cooked through, and consume with warm wine. For small intestine colic or red, scanty, and painful urination, take 1 qian bi per dose, add a small amount each of anise seeds and rock salt, boil in 1 zhan of water until reduced to 8 fen, and take on an empty stomach before meals.
