1 jin of apricot kernels (with skin and tips removed), 4 liang of donkey-hide gelatin.

Processing

Grind the apricot kernels with water in a new sandstone mortar until they form a paste; add two large bowls of water, transfer to a silver or stone pot, and simmer over alternating high and low heat until the liquid is reduced to about 8–9 parts. Add the donkey-hide gelatin and stir until dissolved; then simmer with white sand honey. Taste the decoction first; if it is not sweet enough, add more honey. Store in a porcelain container.
