Drug Formulation

Coptis rhizome 1 liang, Evodia fruit (processed) 1 liang, Soapstone alum 8 liang (grind the above herbs evenly; wrap tightly in rice paper; soak thoroughly in rice vinegar; place over charcoal fire; calcine overnight; the next day, remove the charcoal and carefully retrieve the mixture—it should have turned vermilion; if the color has not changed, repeat the process; then grind into a fine powder for use), Frankincense 5 qian,Gardenia (roasted) 1 liang, Atractylodes lancea 2 liang, Cowpea 5 qian, Cardamom 3 qian, Areca nut 5 qian, Ginseng 5 qian, Curcuma zedoaria 1 liang, Magnolia officinalis 1 liang, Ligusticum chuanxiong 7 qian, Hawthorn 1 liang, Licorice 2 qian, Dried tangerine peel 1 liang, Cyperus rotundus 1 liang.

Processing

Steam red dates over steamed rice until tender, remove the skins and pits, add a small amount of glutinous rice, mix with the above herbs to form pills the size of a Paulownia seed, and sun-dry.
