Drug Formulation

5 qian of Magnolia Bark (stir-fried with ginger juice), 3 qian of Guang Chenpi, 1 liang of Hawthorn, 3 qian of Notopterygium, 3 qian of Phellodendron Bark, 3 qian of Dried Kudzu, 3 qian of Fangfeng, 3 qian of Wuyao, 3 qian of Sichuan Aconite, 3 qian of Trifoliate Orange Peel, 3 qian of White Angelica, 3 qian of Cornus,Acorus tatarinowii 3 qian, Glycyrrhiza 3 qian, Guangmu Xiang (do not expose to fire; grind into powder separately) 3 qian, Amomum villosum 3 qian (grind into powder separately), processed Cyperus rotundus 5 qian, Guanghuoxiang 5 qian, Atractylodes macrocephala (soaked in rice washing water, rinsed, and sliced) 5 qian,Curcuma zedoaria 5 qian, Areca nut 5 qian, Poria 5 qian, Barley malt 1 liang, Shenqu 1 liang, Perilla 1 liang, Akebia 8 qian.

Processing

Except for Wood Fragrance and Amomum villosum, which should be ground separately and added later, all other herbs must be prepared as decocted slices. Combine them all in one place and grind into a coarse powder. On the night of the 4th day of the 5th lunar month, use 1 jin of white liquor per batch to steep the herbs in a porcelain jar. On Dragon Boat Festival, add 2.5 jin of Liu’an tea or black tea leaves per batch to the herbs and mix thoroughly. Wait until noon, then add 3 qian 5 fen of realgar powder per batch,along with 8 liang of warm rice wine. Stir well and mix into the tea. Immediately at noon, stir-fry the mixture until dry. Just before transferring it to the jar, mix in the ground Wood Fragrance and Amomum. Wait until it has cooled completely, then seal the jar tightly to prevent air from escaping.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 qian per dose; boil 2 bowls of water down to 1 bowl. For bloody dysentery, add 5 qian of white honey; for non-bloody dysentery, add 1 liang of brown sugar.
