Drug Formulation

3 fen of Diao Teng hooks, 1 fen of white silkworm pupae (removed from silk and mouthparts, stir-fried), 1 fen of Chuanxiong, 1 fen of cicada exuviae (head, wings, and legs removed, roasted), 1 fen of snake exuviae (roasted), 1 fen of licorice (roasted), and 3 pieces of dung beetle (head, wings, and legs removed, roasted).

Benefits

For pediatric yin epilepsy characterized by excessive sleepiness, cold hands and feet, occasional convulsions, a fixed gaze, and refusal to breastfeed or eat.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 qian per dose; add 1 zhan of water and 5 slices of fresh ginger; decoct until reduced to 7 fen; strain; and, depending on the child’s age, divide the liquid into 3–4 portions to be administered orally. If it is yin epilepsy, add 1 piece of Aconite Root (roasted, with skin and navel removed) the size of a fingertip; decoct as before; serve warm; take 3 times a day and 2 times at night.
