Drug Formulation

2.5 liang of Ephedra, 1 liang of Platycodon, 1 liang of Asarum, 1 liang of Evodia, 1 liang of Saposhnikovia, 1 liang of Atractylodes, 1 liang and 6 zhu of Aconite, 1 liang and 6 zhu of Dried Ginger, 1 liang and 6 zhu of Sichuan Pepper, 1 liang and 6 zhu of Cinnamon Bark.

Instructions for Use

Take one fangcun bi of the mixture mixed with warm wine; keep warm and covered to induce sweating. Stop once sweating begins; if no sweat is produced, or if sweating is scant and symptoms persist, take another dose as directed;if a sufficient sweat is induced but the headache and fever persist, this indicates internal excess; in such cases, take the Dà Chǐ Pills or Zhài’s Pills; if, after sweating, the head feels heavy, insert a quantity equivalent to two soybeans into each nostril; when dryness is felt and nasal discharge begins, repeat this 3–4 times a day, and recovery is assured.

Note

Avoid pork, raw scallions, raw vegetables, peaches and plums, and sparrow meat.
