Drug Formulation

1 jin of Trifoliate Orange Peel (cut each fruit in half lengthwise, remove the pith; insert 7 Mylabris beetles—with wings and legs removed—into each half; rejoin the two halves, tie them tightly with thread in a cross pattern; soak in high-quality vinegar for 7 full days; then simmer in vinegar for 5 incense sticks’ worth of time; add more high-quality vinegar as needed; simmer thoroughly until set; let cool and set; remove the thread; pick out the Mylabris beetles; slice the Trifoliate Orange Peel and air-dry in the shade),1 jin of Purple-backed Daylily (if unavailable, substitute with 9 heads of Lion’s Grass).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Use the excess vinegar from the previous Zhi Ke decoction to form a paste, then roll it into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 50 pills per dose, with either wine or water, once in the morning and once in the evening. For abscesses that have not yet broken through, they will resolve on their own; for those that have already broken through, apply the ointment to them, and they will heal on their own.
