Drug Formulation
Raw Rehmannia 8 liang (preferably with a reddish-purple interior when split open; wash thoroughly with wine, slice with a bamboo knife, mix evenly with 1 zhong of young man’s breast milk and 1 zhong of ash-free wine, soak for one day, then lightly stir-fry in an earthenware pot without stopping; when half-dry, remove and sun-dry during the day and oven-dry at night),White Poria 4 liang (firm and white; Yunnan variety is best; remove the skin; grind into a fine powder with Rehmannia; wrap in silk; place inside glutinous rice and steam until cooked; this preparation guides the Rehmannia into the Huangting Palace for use), Cornus officinalis (red and lustrous is best; wash, remove the pits, and use the flesh) 5 liang,Alisma (preferably free of wormholes and white in color; remove the fibrous roots) 3 liang (grind into a fine powder with Cornus officinalis, wrap in silk, and steam once atop glutinous rice; prepared in this manner, it guides Cornus officinalis into the Dan Tian, preventing Alisma from having a diuretic effect), Dried Chinese yam (from Huaiqing) 5 liang,Peony Bark (thick, robust slices, free from dryness or rot) 4 liang (wash in warm water; while still damp, mix with the ground Chinese yam powder, wrap in silk,Steam once in a clay pot over clear broth until cooked, then sun-dry and grind into a powder; this directs the Chinese yam to the pericardium to generate essence and blood), Cypress Seed Kernels 3 liang (lightly roasted, ground separately), Rubus Fruit (washed with water) 2 liang (roasted), Paper Mulberry Seed 3 liang (rinsed clean, roasted), Goji Berries (those from Ganzhou are best; remove stems and calyxes, and grind into a fine powder) 4 liang,4 liang of dodder seeds (rinsed clean; simmer in a decoction with 2 qian of rock salt until tender; pound into a paste, then stir-fry until dry).

Processing
Grind each of the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 20 liang of genuine beeswax honey and refine it until nearly ready. Sort and clean floating wheat, then take 4 liang of its flour and 4 liang of Euryale seed powder. Add 3 zhan of breast milk from a young, healthy woman and 2 zhong of water, then mix thoroughly. Refine the honey mixture until thoroughly cooked, combine it with the powders, and pound into pills in a stone mortar until they are the size of a Paulownia seed. Dry them in the sun.

Instructions for Use
Take 100 pills daily on an empty stomach with lightly salted water; immediately follow with 1–2 air-dried sweet chestnuts, or about 10–15 boiled lotus seeds, or boiled longan, to help direct the medicine’s efficacy to the lower jiao.
