Processing

Mix the ingredients thoroughly. First, use paper and clay to line a clay pot large enough to hold the medicine. Wait until the clay dries, then place the medicine inside. Seal the opening with clay, place the pot in a baking basket, and bake until thoroughly heated. Then place it on a square brick inscribed with the Eight Trigrams and the Five Elements. Use one scale of charcoal, arranging the basket in a circular pattern around it.Starting from the hours of Sì and Wǔ, kindle the fire from below; the heat will gradually rise through the structure. If any fire falls back down, place it back on the fire. Continue this process until the fire has cooled completely after one full night. Remove the mixture, grind it into a fine powder, sift it through a silk sieve until very fine, store it in a porcelain box, and use as directed.

Instructions for Use

One should always keep this remedy on hand to prepare for emergencies. For a woman who dies from retained placenta after childbirth—manifesting only as heat in the epigastrium—immediately administer one zhan of a child’s urine to expel the retained matter, which will resemble a pig’s liver. She will be free from blood-related wind disorders and phlegm-related qi disorders for the rest of her life. If blood accumulates above the diaphragm, it will transform into yellow fluid and be expelled through vomiting or in the urine. For any external wound causing bleeding, apply this mixture immediately; the blood will transform into yellow fluid. If the blood has entered the internal organs, boil the child’s urine with wine and drink it. For all postpartum conditions caused by retained lochia, use the child’s urine to prepare a purgative.
