Drug Formulation

3–5 pearls (roasted on the tip of a plow blade until slightly yellow, then ground), 49 peas (burned to ash while retaining their essence), and human hair (burned to ash while retaining its essence).

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder and mix with facial oil and rouge to form a paste.

Instructions for Use

Keep the child in a warm, well-ventilated place, avoiding drafts, cold, and foul odors. First, use the tip of a hairpin to gently pry open the boil’s opening, then apply the medicine directly into the boil. It will immediately turn reddish-white, and the remaining sores will all erupt.I have also seen cases of carbuncles and smallpox where simply lancing the boil to expel the black blood brought about a cure. One may lance the boil and suck out the black blood with the mouth, or wrap a fingernail in cotton to squeeze out the black blood—either method is effective, as the toxin is dispersed once the carbuncle is ruptured.
