Drug Formulation

7 qian of Euryale seed (select those with clean, hard shells; rinse in boiling water 4–5 times; then soak in very boiling water until thoroughly softened before use), 3 qian of goji berries (select plump, red ones; rinse with water only once; then soak in boiling water until thoroughly softened before use), and slightly more than half a tea cup of japonica rice (late-maturing variety; rinse in boiling water 4–5 times before use).

Instructions for Use

Prepare the three ingredients as described today. Tomorrow at the fifth watch, use a sandpot: first bring the water to a rolling boil, then add the Euryale seeds and boil for 4–5 boils; next, add the goji berries and boil for 3–4 boils; finally, add the rice and cook until the porridge is thick, tender, and fragrant. Use plenty of water to cook the porridge; do not add cold water.Consume on an empty stomach to nourish the stomach qi. After 40 days, the skin will become supple and lustrous; after 100 days, one’s gait will be strong and vigorous; after one year, the tendons and bones will be firm and robust. Alternatively, grind into a fine powder and take with boiling water.
