Drug Formulation

Jinying (extract the juice) 2 liang, Atractylodes (extract the juice) 2 liang, Raw Rehmannia (extract the juice) 2 liang, Epimedium (extract the juice) 2 liang, Cistanche (soaked in wine) 2 liang, Cuscuta (soaked in wine, ground separately) 2 liang, Achyranthes (soaked in wine) 2 liang, Raw Nuphar seed (dried) 2 liang, Raw Lotus seed (dried) 2 liang,2 liang of dried Chinese yam, 2 liang of ginseng, 2 liang of Poria (peeled), 2 liang of cloves, 2 liang of wood fragrant, 2 liang of Acorus, 2 liang of musk (ground separately before adding), 2 liang of licorice (roasted), 2 liang of tangerine peel (pith removed), 2 liang of biota seed kernels (ground separately).

Processing

First, grind the ingredients from Dodder Seed onward into a fine powder, then mix in the White Pine Nut Kernels;Place white sand honey in a silver or stone vessel; place it in a double-walled furnace over a moderate fire (5 jin) and refine until slightly melted. Add 2 sheng of infant’s milk or more, stir with a wooden whisk, then pour in the refined honey mixture from the previous step. Stir continuously until well blended—do not stop stirring. Pour this mixture into the powdered herbs and stir while simmering. As the liquid evaporates, gradually add more over a moderate fire; do not let the heat become too intense. Simmer until the mixture forms a paste suitable for making pills, then stop;Remove the mixture, allow it to cool slightly in the silver and stone vessel, then add powdered musk and knead thoroughly to form a paste; pound the mixture in a stone mortar over a thousand times, then form 10 pills per liang.
