Drug Formulation

25 large Pinellia tubers (fresh, sliced), 50 large Pinellia rhizomes (sliced; fresh is best), 4 liang soapberry pods (strings removed and cleaned), 4 liang white alum, 4 liang salt, 2 liang Platycodon root, 4 liang Fangfeng, 4 liang Parkia seed.

Processing

Select 100 large plums that are 70 percent ripe. First, soak them in a solution of potash and salt water for one week. Then, grind all the medicinal ingredients into a fine powder, mix them thoroughly with water, and place the plums in the mixture—ensuring the liquid covers the plums by three fingers’ width. Soak for seven days, remove, and sun-dry. Repeat this process of soaking, soaking thoroughly, and sun-drying until the medicinal solution is completely dry. Finally, place the plums in a sealed porcelain container; it is even better if a frost-like coating forms on them.

Instructions for Use

To use, wrap the mixture in a thin layer of cotton, hold it in the mouth, and allow the saliva to be swallowed slowly; once phlegm is expelled, the condition will be cured.
