Drug Formulation

8 liang of Venus clams (steamed over cooked rice), 4 liang of prepared Rehmannia root (steamed and sun-dried nine times), 4 liang of Schisandra berries, 4 liang of Polygala root (simmered in licorice), 4 liang of Achyranthes root (washed in wine, with ends removed), 4 liang of Cnidium seeds (cleaned of soil, soaked in wine, and stir-fried),4 liang of Poria Sclerotium, 4 liang of Cypress Seed Kernels (roasted to remove oil), 4 liang of Dodder Seed (boiled in wine), 4 liang of Cistanche (washed in wine, scales and shells removed), 4 liang of Rock Salt, 1 dog skull (calcined to preserve its essence).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; form into pills the size of a paulownia seed using a wine paste as binder; coat with cinnabar.

Take 50–70 pills per dose, washed down with lightly salted water or wine, followed by solid food to settle the stomach.
