Drug Formulation

1 liang of lotus stamens, 2 liang 2 qian of brocade-patterned rhubarb, 2 liang 2 qian of black pharbitis (using the head and powder), 1 qian of angelica root, 1 qian of gallnut, 1 qian of red alum, 3 qian of Coptis, 1 qian of frankincense, and 1 qian of myrrh.

Instructions for Use

Before taking the medicine, do not eat dinner the day before. The next day, on an empty stomach, mix 1 zhong of light pork broth with 1.5 zhong of fine wine, then add 1 qian 2 fen of the aforementioned powdered medicine and take it with this mixture.In the afternoon, when the pulse becomes loose and dispersing on clean yellow earth, the appearance of toxic substances is a sign of effectiveness; or if the discharge resembles a rotten apricot with a mixture of five colors, this is also a sign of effectiveness. If the powdered medicine is difficult to take, make it into wine-paste pills the size of mung beans. Take 1 qian 5 fen per dose.

Note

Avoid strong liquor, sexual activity, anger, and “triggering” foods such as mutton, fish, and dog meat.
