Drug Formulation

10 jin of Agastache, 8 jin of Magnolia officinalis (stir-fried with 8 bowls of old ginger juice), 6 jin of Schizonepeta spikelets, 8 jin of Atractylodes macrocephala (soaked in rice washing water, sliced, and stir-fried), 6 jin of Elsholtzia, 6 jin of Areca nut (thinly sliced beforehand),Qianghuo 5 jin, Qingfangfeng 6 jin, Jianshenqu (crushed with a pestle, stir-fried) 8 jin, Duhuo 5 jin, Xiangbaizhi 5 jin, Zhike (stir-fried) 6 jin, Chenpi 6 jin, Zexie (stir-fried in salt water) 6 jin,Poria 8 jin, Talc (ground into powder, washed with water) 12 jin, Xuan Mu Gu (roasted) 6 jin, Licorice 5 jin, Perilla Stems 8 jin, Prepared Pinellia 8 jin, Pueraria Root 6 jin, Cyperus Rhizome (roasted) 8 jin, Atractylodes (sliced, mixed with soil from an east-facing wall and roasted) 8 jin, Green Tangerine Peel (roasted) 4 jin, Vitex Fruit 8 jin.

Processing

Grind each of the above herbs into a fine powder. Use 3 jin of tangerine peel to prepare a decoction for making pills; each pill (weighed while still moist) should weigh 3 qian.

Instructions for Use

For colds in the spring, take with light ginger decoction; for wind-cold colds in summer and autumn, take with tangerine peel decoction; for cholera with vomiting and diarrhea, take with light salt decoction; for malaria occurring once every 1–2 days, take with ginger and jujube decoction;for bloody dysentery, take with red lentil flower decoction; for white dysentery, take with brown sugar decoction; for sharp pain in the chest and abdomen, take with amomum decoction; for headache, nasal congestion, aversion to wind, and absence of sweat, take with a decoction of 6 fen of cinnamon twig; for the onset of cough with rapid breathing and counterflow of qi, take with fresh ginger decoction; for aversion to cold, cold limbs, and aching joints, take with scallion white decoction.
