Drug Formulation

3 liang of Changshan, 8 liang of gypsum (crushed and wrapped in cotton), one handful of sweet bamboo leaves (sliced), and 100 grains of glutinous rice.

Instructions for Use

Take 8 sheng of water. If the medicine is to be taken the next morning, soak it in a copper vessel this evening, place it outdoors in a high, clean spot under the stars and moonlight, and retrieve it at dawn. At the entrance to the patient’s room, simmer the mixture in the copper vessel over low heat until reduced to 3 sheng, then divide it into three doses: one dose just before sunrise, and another just before an attack begins. If the symptoms subside immediately, the remaining dose is not needed. Wrap the residue in gypsum and place it on the heart; place the remaining 4 fen on the palms of both hands and the soles of both feet.

Note

Avoid raw scallions and raw vegetables.
