Drug Formulation

4 liang of Sichuan Coptis (chopped into pieces the size of soybeans, soaked in a child’s urine overnight, filtered to remove residue, sun-dried, and ground into a powder); 6 liang of炉甘石 (placed on an iron plate, heated until thoroughly red-hot over a charcoal fire, quenched with Coptis juice, repeated 7 times, then ground into a powder); 3 liang of Orpiment (finely ground and thoroughly washed with water); 2 qian of Angelica sinensis;1 qian of blackfish bone, 1 qian of white clove, 1 qian of realgar (ground separately), 1 qian of mercury oxide (ground), half a qian of musk (ground separately), and half a qian of frankincense (ground separately).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 10 liang of white sand honey and boil it in a silver vessel or earthenware pot until it comes to a boil 5–7 times. Skim off the wax from the surface with clean paper, then strain to remove impurities. Add all the remaining ingredients except the realgar, and stir thoroughly with a damp willow twig. Next, add the realgar and stir again until well blended. Over low heat, stir slowly until the mixture turns purple and no longer sticks to your hands. Quickly roll into pills the size of soapberry seeds and wrap them in paper.

Take 1 pill at a time, dissolve it in fresh water in a small cup, and use the solution to wash the affected area frequently.
