Processing

Soak in the oil for 3 days, then simmer to remove the dregs. Refine further until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water. First, thicken the mixture with 10 liang of Guang Dan. Add 1 liang each of lead powder, zinc oxide, and talc (fine powder); 5 qian each of frankincense, myrrh (both with oil removed), dragon’s blood, and mercury; and 1 liang of calcined alum. Grind to a very fine powder, then thicken into an ointment.

Instructions for Use

Melt the mixture over a water bath, spread the ointment on a red cloth, and apply it to the affected area.
