Formulas Name : Miraculous Bone-Penetrating Ointment
Chinese Name : 神异透骨膏
Drug Formulation
5 qian of exposed bee hive (finely chopped until extremely fine), 5 qian of apricot kernels (with skin and tips removed), 10 liang of clear oil, 4 qian of pangolin scales, 1 liang of angelica root, 8 wood turtle seeds (shells removed), 4 qian of white frankincense (high-quality),snake shed 5 qian (washed and soaked in lightly salted water), Guo Dan 4 liang, scallions with roots 10 stalks, frankincense 2 qian, myrrh 2 qian, and a clump of unwashed male hair (washed clean) the size of a chicken’s egg (from a young boy or girl).

Processing
Soak the herbs in the vegetable oil overnight. Simmer the mixture over low heat until the herbs turn black. Strain through raw silk to remove the residue. Return the strained oil to low heat and simmer again. Add the yellow lead oxide to the oil, stirring continuously with long willow or locust branches.until a faint smoke rises. Immediately lift the cauldron and drip the oil onto the surface of water; if it coagulates into beads, the ointment is ready. Continue stirring until no smoke is visible, then add frankincense, myrrh, and red lead, stirring until well blended. Pour into a porcelain container and change the freshly drawn water once a day. Submerge the container in water for three days to remove the heat toxicity. This ointment may be enhanced by adding half liang of Scrophularia root and 4 qian of Astragalus root.
