Drug Formulation

Poria cocos 2 liang (must be white, firm, and heavy), genuine Atractylodes macrocephala 1 liang (soaked in rice washing water overnight, peel and root base removed, sliced, sun-dried, then stir-fried with yellow earth), Scutellaria baicalensis (stir-fried with wine; select slender stems with solid centers) 1 liang, Cyperus rotundus (soaked in a child’s urine for 2 days, then stir-fried until cooked) 1 liang,Yuanhusuo (stir-fried with aged rice vinegar) 1 liang, Safflower (dried by baking through paper) 1 liang, Motherwort (cleaned leaves) 1 liang, Genuine Myrrh 3 qian (roasted over indirect heat on a new tile to remove oil).

Processing

Grind each of the above herbs into a fine powder, mix with refined honey, and form into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.

Benefits

For pregnant women with fetal instability, abdominal pain, and lower back soreness; or with a sensation of distension and heaviness; or with frequent threatened miscarriage during the third, fifth, or sixth months; or with spotting indicating an impending miscarriage.

Instructions for Use

Take 7 pills daily on an empty stomach; do not exceed 7 pills even though they are small. For pregnant women with fetal instability, take 4–5 doses per day; once the fetus is stable, resume the standard dosage. In cases of severe abdominal pain and a sensation of the fetus dropping, or a sensation of distension and heaviness, take the pills immediately. For those experiencing frequent sensations of the fetus dropping between the 3rd and 5th months of pregnancy, take the pills daily for one month to ensure the pregnancy reaches full term. If there is spotting indicating imminent miscarriage, take these pills urgently.

Note

Strictly avoid anger, sexual intercourse, and pungent, spicy, or cold foods; refrain from fried or stir-fried foods, chili peppers, foods that cause gas or block the flow of qi, fermented foods, cold water, and cold foods.
