Drug Formulation

2 liang of lead ash (melt several jin of black lead; a layer of ash will inevitably float to the surface; collect this ash repeatedly through successive melting and grind it into a fine powder), 1 liang of lead sulfide (melt 4 liang of black lead in an iron pot;then sprinkle 4 liang of fine sulfur powder over the lead; once the sulfur has adhered, quickly stir and roast with an iron spatula; after the lead is refined by the sulfur, it will form granules; remove and let cool, discard any that have been rolled into cakes, and grind the remainder extremely fine in a mortar), 1.5 liang of wheat malt (roasted until cooked).

Instructions for Use

Take 5–6 pills per dose, up to 10 pills; dissolve 4–5 fen of pure sodium silicate in water and take with the medicine. If constipation occurs after taking the medicine (lead ash and lead sulfide can both cause constipation), increase the amount of sodium silicate accordingly.
