Chinese Name : 藕珠丹

Drug Formulation

Source

From *Collected Medical Formulas*, Volume 89, citing *Wu’s Collection of Proven Formulas*.

Processing

Place in a clean jar, suspend the medicine pouch, and simmer over charcoal until the lotus root juice has evaporated (to “suspend the medicine pouch”: place a bamboo stick across the mouth of the jar, tie the medicine pouch with string, and let it hang inside the jar without touching the bottom). Once the lotus root juice has evaporated, bake the pouch and its contents together until dry.Take 5 dou of glutinous rice and use a small rice steamer. First, line the steamer with magnolia bark; place the cinnabar silk pouch on top of the magnolia bark; then wrap the magnolia bark securely around the pouch; cover it completely with rice; seal it with a lid; and steam over mulberry wood fire for one month, maintaining a continuous fire day and night.Change the rice broth every seven days; if the level seems low, add hot broth—do not add cold water. After one full month, open the bag, remove the cinnabar, and dry it in an oven. Grind it finely in a mortar, then shape the glutinous rice into pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use
