Drug Formulation

Clove, Wood Fragrance, Realgar (ground), Dry Lacquer (roasted until all smoke has dissipated), Fine Ink, Rhubarb (chopped, roasted), Aconite (processed), Cinnamon Bark, Frankincense (ground), Guang Atractylodes, Green Tangerine Peel, Beijing Sanleng, Myrrh (ground), Castor Bean Powder (reduced by half), Pig’s Tooth Soapberry, and Dried Ginger (processed)—each in equal parts.

Processing

Except for those to be ground separately, grind all the above herbs into a fine powder. Dissolve realgar in 1 sheng of good vinegar, strain out the residue, and simmer over low heat in a silver or stone vessel; then add croton seed ash and rhubarb powder, simmer until it becomes a paste, mix in the previously prepared herbal powder, and form into pills the size of a hemp seed.
