Drug Formulation

Scutellaria baicalensis 48 liang, Rheum palmatum 48 liang, Dioscorea opposita 48 liang, Platycodon grandiflorus 48 liang, Syzygium aromaticum 24 liang, Realgar 24 liang, Ox Bile 1 qian 2 fen, Borneol 2 liang 6 qian, Mentha haplocalyx 1 liang 8 qian.

Processing

Process and clean the herbal materials. Decoct Platycodon and Scutellaria twice, for 2.5 hours and 1.5 hours, respectively. Hot-infuse Dioscorea to extract the decoction, then filter and remove the sediment. Extract the oil from Clove for 8–16 hours, then collect the decoction after all the oil has been removed. Combine the above decoctions, filter to remove sediment, and press-concentrate to a thick paste with a specific gravity of 1.40 at a temperature of 50°C.Raw Powder: Grind 16 liang each of Rheum palmatum and Dioscorea opposita into a fine powder, sieve through a 100-mesh sieve, grind evenly using a cow bile mortar, add Borneol and Mentha water, mix thoroughly, and sieve through a heavy sieve. Form pills by mixing the raw powder and thick paste in the specified ratio. Use 8 liang of Realgar from the formula as a coating, accounting for 3.2% of the total herbal ingredients; each 100 pills weigh 5 qian.
