40 Sichuan苦楝 (cut into 4 slices); 49 seeds of Croton tiglium (peeled); half a sheng of wheat bran—stir-fry together until reddish; retain only the苦楝; discard the Croton tiglium seeds and wheat bran; 1 liang of aniseed (rinsed to remove sand, then stir-fried until fragrant).
