Drug Formulation

24 liang of yellow丹, 2.5 jin of sesame oil, 4 liang of lard, 4 liang of wild camel fat, 1 jin of pine resin, half a liang of black snake, half a liang of white lonicera, half a liang of white angelica, half a liang of bletilla, half a liang of forsythia, half a liang of续断, half a liang of purple kudzu, half a liang of Achyranthes root (stems removed), half a liang of raw dried rehmannia, 1 liang of crucian carp scales,half liang of hedgehog skin, half liang of dew-soaked bee hive, half liang of akebia stem, half liang of angelica root,1 liang of peach kernels (soaked in hot water, with skin and tip removed), 1 liang of apricot kernels (soaked in hot water, with skin and tip removed), 1 liang of frankincense, 1 liang of cloves, 1 liang of wood fragrant, 1 liang of cassia bark, 1 liang of aconite root (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed), 1 liang of ligusticum root, 1 liang of notopterygium root, 1 liang of qilin blood.

Processing

Finely chop the ingredients, place them in animal fat along with pine resin, and simmer over low heat for half a day. When the mixture is charred and cooked through, strain through cotton to remove the dregs. Use a clean pot,add finely ground yellow丹 to a fine gauze bag and stir-fry until it turns purple; immediately pour in the prepared herbal decoction, stirring continuously with a willow whisk. When the mixture turns purple, the oil’s potency is exhausted; if a drop falls into water and forms a bead, and if it does not stain your hands when examined, remove from heat and store in a porcelain box.

Apply a paper poultice to the affected area, changing it once a day.
