Drug Formulation

A half jin of Atractylodes lancea (soaked in rice water, peel removed), 1.5 liang of Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (soaked in warm water, stir-fried with wheat bran), 1 liang of Fructus Aurantii Veras (soaked in water, pith removed), 1 liang of Curcuma zedoaria (boiled in vinegar, hairy parts removed), 1 liang of Curcuma zedoaria (boiled in vinegar), 1 liang of Cyperus rotundus (stir-fried, hairy parts removed), 1 liang of Anisum stellatum (stir-fried),Dried lacquer (stir-fried with vinegar until all smoke has dissipated) 1 liang, Agastache (washed to remove soil) 1 liang, Dried tangerine peel 1 liang, Magnolia bark (processed with ginger) 1 liang 2 qian, Amomum (stir-fried, peel removed) 1 liang 2 qian, Polygonum multiflorum 1 liang 2 qian, Soapberry (peel and string removed) 2 liang, Black pharbitis 2 liang, Cardamom 1 liang (peel removed), Hundred-herb ash 1 liang.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder; mix with wheat flour paste to form pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Benefits

Indicated for masses and accumulations, qi-related disorders, distension of the chest and diaphragm, abdominal fullness, and tightness in the heart and ribs. Also indicated for food stagnation and abdominal fullness in children.

Instructions for Use

Take 70 pills per dose; adjust the dosage according to the patient’s constitution and the richness or lightness of their diet. Take before bedtime with wine, clear tea, salted water, or plain water; alternatively, take at any time with the same number of pills washed down with a suitable liquid.Within 1–2 hours, one may eat or drink alcohol; the abdomen will feel relieved, regardless of the dosage taken. For children, use 10 or more pills, crushed and swallowed with clear tea or rice water.

Note

Pregnant women should not take this formula.
