Drug Formulation

Tiannanxing 4 liang, Banxia 9.5 liang, Baifuzi 2 liang 6 qian, Chuanwutou 7.5 qian (Grind all the above raw ingredients into a fine powder; place in a raw silk bag; rinse with well water, strain, and filter; if sediment remains, grind again; return to the bag and rinse thoroughly; place in a porcelain basin to sun-dry during the day and expose to dew at night; each morning, decant the stagnant water and replace it with fresh well water; stir well and sun-dry; 5 days in spring, 3 days in summer,7 days in autumn, 10 days in winter; remove the water and sun-dry until it resembles jade slivers, then incorporate the remaining herbs), White-flowered Snake (soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, baked dry, weighed) 1 liang, Sword-backed Black-striped Snake (soaked in wine overnight, skin and bones removed, baked dry, weighed) 1 liang,White Stiff Silkworm 1 liang (stir-fried to remove the silk mouth), Whole Scorpion 1 liang (de-toxified, lightly stir-fried), Chuanxiong 2 liang, Tianma 2 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Boil fresh ginger juice to form a paste, then shape it into pills the size of mung beans. Coat the pills with 1 liang of finely ground cinnabar and 2 qian of powdered musk, air-dry them, and store in an airtight container.
