Drug Formulation

Toad Venom 1 liang (pounded with scallions until pulpy, wrapped in white flour dough, and heated in an oven); Magnolia Bark 15 liang (stir-fried with ginger juice); Red-bud Euphorbia 2 liang 5 qian (purple variety is best); Red Gold 2 qian (placed in a silver cauldron, then crushed into fine particles with sulfur powder).

Processing

Use one tiger stomach; do not empty its contents. Coarsely grind all the herbs together, place them inside the tiger stomach, and place it in an iron pot. Calcine over high heat until reduced to ash, then grind into a fine powder.

Instructions for Use

For younger patients, take 3 fen mixed with hot, ash-free wine every morning; the total dose over 10 days is 3 qian. For older patients, take 5 fen mixed with hot, ash-free wine every morning; the total dose over 10 days is 5 qian, after which the condition will be cured. For meals, cook rice using Beijing rice. When the rice is nearly done, for each bowl of rice, mix in half a bowl of dried persimmons cut into rice-grain-sized pieces, then steam until thoroughly soft and eat; continue until the patient is fully recovered.

Note

Avoid soups and liquids, as well as anger, excessive labor, and sexual activity; if extremely thirsty, consume only a small amount of soup or water.
