Drug Formulation

1 fen of realgar, 1 fen of borax, 1 fen of cinnabar (all ground together), 1 fen of talcum powder, 1.5 liang of Sichuan aconite (peel and navel removed, used raw) (ground into a fine powder), 1 liang of green tangerine peel (white pith removed, ground into a powder),Black Pharbitis (powder, weighed) 1 liang, Croton Seed (plump variety) 1 liang (remove skin and membrane; stir-fry with 4 liang of salt until purple; discard the salt; additionally, take 1 fen of raw Croton Seed—peeled and dried—remove the core and membrane, then grind it with the stir-fried Croton Seed into a very fine powder; mix with the powders of the preceding ingredients and grind again until uniform).

Processing

For each liang of the above powdered medicine, first melt 2 liang of beeswax into a liquid, then add the powdered medicine, stir until thoroughly mixed, allow to cool to room temperature, and roll into pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Administer 5 pills per dose, adjusted according to the patient’s constitution; if the medicine has been stored for a year, increase the dose to 7 pills; for children with deficiency-type stagnation presenting with tidal fever or alternating chills and fever, administer 3 pills the size of mung beans, taken with a decoction of ginger and papaya, and taken before bedtime; for all cases of cold stagnation or chest and diaphragm obstruction, take one dose first; it is particularly effective for persistent cold diarrhea or dysentery with red and white discharges, with immediate relief upon taking the medicine; for severe dysentery, take one dose at the beginning of the third watch, followed by another dose the next day.Immediate results.
