10 pieces of Corydalis tuber, 2 pieces of pig’s-tooth soapberry (plump and firm), 2 qian of indigo powder.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder; mix with water to form small cakes, each about the size of an apricot kernel.

Instructions for Use

When administering, have the patient lie on their back. Dissolve the mixture in water and use a bamboo tube to deliver it into the nose—the left nostril for men, the right for women. When the patient feels the medicine reach their throat and experiences a slight sour sensation, have them sit up and firmly bite down on a copper coin placed against their front teeth. Saliva will begin to flow; once a basinful has been produced, the patient will be cured.
