Drug Formulation

5 jin of Sichuan magnolia bark, 2 liang of Sichuan rhubarb, 3 liang of Scutellaria baicalensis, 2 liang of gardenia, 1 liang of rhinoceros horn shavings, 2 liang of purple quartz (finely ground), 3 liang of licorice (raw), 3 liang of bamboo shavings, half a liang of musk (finely ground), 1 liang of cinnabar (finely ground), 3 liang of antelope horn shavings, and 2 liang of curcuma.

Processing

Except for the Sichuan Magnolia Bark, Purple Quartz, Cinnabar, and Musk, coarsely chop the remaining ingredients. Decoct in 1 dou 2 sheng of water until reduced to 5 sheng. Strain to remove the dregs and clarify the liquid. Simmer over low heat again, then add the Sichuan Magnolia Bark. Stir continuously with a willow wood spoon without stopping. When the mixture thickens slightly, immediately add the powdered Purple Quartz and Cinnabar and stir until evenly mixed.when it begins to set, add the ground musk and stir until uniform; pour into a clean basin, leave overnight, then remove and grind into a fine powder.
