Processing

Mix the cinnabar, realgar, and asafoetida together, grind them thoroughly until uniform, and pack the mixture tightly into the Aconite roots. Then, scoop out the pulp from the center of each Aconite root and place it on top of the medicinal powder, pressing it down firmly. Use a piece of paper about the size of a coin, moistened with flour, to seal the opening of the Aconite root. For each Aconite root, take a whole, large radish; hollow out the top of the radish to a depth of about half a cun, remove the center, place the Aconite root inside, and cover it with the hollowed-out radish top. Secure it tightly with a bamboo skewer, then wrap it in barley flour dough to a thickness of about half a finger. Roast it over charcoal embers until the dough is charred and cooked through. Remove it, discard the radish, and place it in a mortar.Any Aconite that was not completely filled with the hollowed-out radish pulp should be pounded in the same manner until thoroughly processed, then formed into pills the size of a Paulownia seed.
