Drug Formulation

Angelica sinensis (chopped) 1 liang, Trichosanthes kirilowii seeds (finely chopped) 1 liang, Tiantai Wuyao (chopped) 1 liang, Red Peony Root (chopped) 1 liang,4 liang of light vegetable oil (soak the above four ingredients in the oil for 7 days and 7 nights, then strain out the residue), 2 liang of frankincense (ground), 16 liang of asphalt (filtered and strained), 10 liang of orpiment (sifted), half a liang of dragon’s blood (ground separately), 1 liang of myrrh (ground separately), and 1 liang of amber (crushed with a pestle and ground).

Processing

For the frankincense and asphalt listed above, simmer them in an iron pot over low heat until they are completely dissolved. Check their consistency periodically; as needed, gradually add the aforementioned infused medicinal oil, adjusting the amount as required. Once the consistency is appropriate, filter the mixture through cotton into a basin of water. Stir until a white residue forms, then immediately add the orpiment. Stir again until the color is uniform, and store the mixture in a porcelain box.
