Processing

Coarsely chop the ingredients, moisten them with well water, and soak them in a clay vessel. Expose them to sunlight during the day and moonlight at night for 5 days in spring, 3 days in summer, 7 days in fall, and 10 days in winter. Change the water daily. Once the required number of days has passed, dry them in the sun and grind into a powder.

Instructions for Use

Take 5 qian of high-quality, large-grained cinnabar and grind it separately into a fine powder; mix until the mixture turns a peach-red color. For acute convulsions, take it with a decoction of mint, lampwick, and gold-silver rings; for chronic convulsions, take it with a decoction of whole scorpion and hook vine; for vomiting and diarrhea, take it with a decoction of fresh ginger and scallion whites;for abdominal pain, take it with a decoction of light ginger; for coughs, take it with rice water mixed with vinegar; or take it with a decoction of mulberry bark; for fetal convulsions, night crying, or the sensation of worms in the abdomen, take it with a decoction of Chinese toon root bark; for common cold-induced coughs, take it with a decoction of ginger and scallion whites; for malaria, take it with a decoction of ginger and scallion whites, and it is especially effective to follow this with the powder mixed with ginger decoction.
