Drug Formulation

Authentic Atractylodes 20 liang (soaked in rice water, then stir-fried with rice), Licorice 20 liang (half raw, half roasted), Pinellia 20 liang (processed with ginger),20 liang of Yun Poria, 10 liang of white mung beans (roasted), 10 liang of Magnolia Bark (roasted with ginger juice), 10 liang of barley malt (roasted), 10 liang of Cyperus Rhizome (processed), 10 liang of charred Hawthorn, 10 liang of Guang Agastache, 10 liang of Shenqu, 8 liang of tangerine peel, 8 liang of Trifoliate Orange Peel (roasted with wheat bran),Scutellaria baicalensis 8 liang (fried with wine), Saposhnikovia divaricata 8 liang, Platycodon grandiflorus 8 liang, Perilla frutescens 8 liang, Mentha haplocalyx 8 liang.

Processing

Grind each of the above herbs into a fine powder and form into pills using a decoction of ginger and jujube.

For external invasion by wind-cold and internal injury due to food stagnation, characterized by diarrhea, body pain, jaundice, and damp diarrhea.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 qian per dose; for mild cases, once daily; for severe cases, twice daily. For alternating chills and fever, joint pain and restlessness, and absence of sweat, take with plain boiled water; for those with sweat, take with a decoction of 1 qian of Pueraria root. For generalized body pain, or inability to turn over in bed despite the absence of pain, take with a decoction of 1 qian of Cinnamomum twig; for those with sweat, take with a decoction of 3 qian of raw Coix seed.For abdominal distension and delirium, take 1 qian of charred Gardenia fruit and 2 qian of fermented soybeans, decocted in water, and take with the decoction. For abdominal distension and diarrhea, take 3 fen of roasted Aquilaria, decocted in water, and take with the decoction. For jaundice affecting the face, eyes, and entire body, take 2 qian of Artemisia capillaris and 1 qian of charred Gardenia fruit, decocted in water, and take with the decoction.For jaundice accompanied by fever, take 1 qian of charred gardenia and 5 fen of Phellodendron bark, decoct in water, and take with the decoction. For swelling of the insteps or generalized swelling, take 1 qian of akebia, decoct in water, and take with the decoction.
