Benefits

For bodily pain, hemiplegia, rheumatism, dysphagia, and qi-related disorders.

Instructions for Use

Separately grind the following herbs into a fine powder: camphor, musk, ox bile, frankincense, myrrh, dragon bone, dragon’s blood, cinnabar, and mercury oxide. Finely chop all other herbs, soak them in oil overnight. For external use, grind 2 jin of miso into a fine powder. For each batch of medicine, use 3 jin of sesame oil—enough to fully submerge the ingredients. Simmer the mixture over alternating high and low heat until the hair is completely charred and disappears. Remove from heat and let cool, then strain out the residue.return it to the heat, gradually adding 4.5 qian of miso powder while stirring continuously with a willow branch until cool. Add one bowl of water; when the mixture forms beads that do not disperse, add the five ingredients—including frankincense—and stir evenly. Remove from heat and let cool until warm, then add the three ingredients—camphor, musk, and ox bile—and stir evenly. Transfer to a porcelain jar for storage; the ointment is ready for use after 17 days. For pain in the body, hemiplegia, rheumatism, and similar ailments, take fresh ginger, pound it to extract the juice, and heat it in a pan. Rub the affected area 20–30 times with this mixture. Warm the ointment over a flame and apply it to the affected area. If itching occurs, remove it; after a short while, warm it again and reapply the ointment. For conditions such as dysphagia or qi stagnation, add 3 qian of dog kidney. If ox bile and dog kidney are unavailable, substitute with 3 qian of swan fat.
