Drug Formulation

8 liang of red Polygonum multiflorum, 8 liang of white Polygonum multiflorum (for very large specimens, soak in rice washing water overnight; scrape off the coarse skin with a porcelain tile, then pound into pieces the size of a fingertip.Take black beans and Achyranthes root; wash them with wine and place them together in a sandpot or wooden steamer, arranging them in several layers. Cover them generously with black beans and steam until the black beans are fragrant and cooked; then remove and sun-dry. Be sure to repeat this process of steaming and sun-drying nine times), Cuscuta seeds 8 liang (soak in ash-free wine, boil in a sandpot until cracked, pound into a cake in a stone mortar, sun-dry, bake dry,crush with a pestle, mix with human milk, and sun-dry), Sichuan Angelica 8 liang (wash with wine; remove the root tips and tails, using only the middle section), Large Fritillary Bulb 8 liang (round and white with no cloudiness; remove the core), Sichuan Dipsacus 4 liang (break in half; if smoke or dust emerges, remove the root stalk), Sweet Goji Berries 8 liang (mix with human milk, sun-dry, and bake until dry),Cornus officinalis 8 liang (bright red and lustrous; remove the pits), Sichuan Achyranthes root 8 liang (remove the rhizome; break by hand; if no iron is visible, discard), Psoralea corylifolia 4 liang (remove the floating seeds; mix with half a jin of black sesame seeds and stir-fry until the heat subsides), Euryale seed 8 liang,lotus seed kernels 8 liang (remove the inner core), white Poria 8 liang (mixed with human milk, sun-dried three times), red Poria 8 liang (mixed with black sesame and cow’s milk, sun-dried three times), Polygala root 8 liang (boiled in licorice water, remove the fibrous core, sun-dried), Liaodong ginseng (determine the appropriate dosage for the individual, but do not exceed 8 liang).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder using a stone mill or stone grinder; ensure no iron comes into contact with the mixture. For every 1 jin of the powdered mixture, use 12 liang of high-quality honey, refined until a drop forms a bead when held. Mix the honey with the powder in a stone mortar and pound with a wooden pestle 3,000 times, then shape into pills the size of a paulownia seed.
