Drug Formulation

2 jin 4 liang of genuine sesame oil, 5 qian of Gentiana macrophylla, 5 qian of Curcuma zedoaria, 1 jin 2 liang of orpiment (washed with water and stir-fried until purple), 5 qian of Phellodendron bark, 14 slices of Pangolin scale, 3 qian of Angelica sinensis, 5 qian of Curcuma zedoaria, 14 whole scorpions, 3 qian of rhubarb,5 qian of centipede, 7 pieces of Trichosanthes seed (simmer the ingredients in the oil until it turns yellow; strain out the residue, mash the mixture, and set aside;add the realgar when the oil has cooled, simmer over alternating low and high heat, stirring constantly with locust and willow twigs until black smoke rises; continue simmering until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when tested with water, and the consistency feels just right to the touch before removing from the heat; then incorporate the fine herbs listed below into the crushed coarse residue), genuine asafoetida 2 liang, frankincense 5 qian, myrrh 5 qian, musk 1 qian, and pi xiao 3 qian (ground into a fine powder).

Instructions for Use

To use, dissolve the mixture by sitting it in water (do not melt it over a fire); apply it to the affected area using dog skin as a poultice, with each poultice weighing 7 qian. The fever will subside after 3 days; mild abdominal pain will be felt after 7 days; and the passage of pus and blood in the stool after 10 days serves as confirmation of the treatment’s efficacy.

Note

Avoid raw and cold foods, fishy and meaty dishes, and foods that trigger allergic reactions for 100 days.
