Drug Formulation
2 liang of Coptis (ground into powder), half a liang of Croton seed (with shell, mixed evenly with the Coptis).

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder.
Benefits
For constipation due to typhoid fever and various other conditions, where stools are hard, clumped together, and unable to pass, accompanied by abdominal distension and pain; also for patients who are physically weak and unwilling to take laxative medications.
Instructions for Use
Divide into three doses. Mix with the natural sap from scallion whites to form a paste, then apply it to the area above the navel in a layer half a cun thick. Bowel movements will occur naturally in due course. If constipation persists, apply another dose; once relief is achieved, discontinue use.
