Drug Formulation
Ginseng (from Silla; must be compact, heavy, and moist; remove the root crown, scrub clean, bake until dry, slice thinly, and bake until thoroughly dry) 2 liang,Sichuan Achyranthes (3–4 chi long and moist; remove the shoots, scrub clean, dry in an oven, cut into 1-cun lengths, soak in wine overnight, then dry in an oven) 1.5 liang, Sichuan Morinda (black-purple in color; the best are heavy and pierce the heart; those with a yellowish tint that are light and float are unsuitable; scrub clean, dry in an oven, finely chop, soak in wine overnight, then dry in an oven) 1 liang,Sichuan Angelica (with large stems and tips resembling a horse’s tail; moist, pungent, warm, and fragrant; remove the root base, scrub and wash thoroughly, dry in an oven, finely slice, soak in wine overnight, then dry in an oven) 2 liang,Eucommia Bark (Select pieces with abundant fibers; peel off the coarse outer bark to retain only the inner flesh, as in the method for removing the bark from cinnamon. Then brush and wash thoroughly, dry in an oven, chop crosswise into pieces the size of beans, stir-fry with wheat flour until the fibers break and the color turns yellow, remove the flour, and grind separately) 1 liang and a half,Rehmannia (harvested before the Winter Solstice; those that sink when soaked in water are considered suitable. Pound the plump ones to extract the juice, soak thoroughly, steam, then dry in an oven until black in color and sweet in taste. When preparing, use both the raw and cooked varieties, dry them in an oven, soak in wine overnight, strain, finely slice with a bamboo knife, and dry in an oven; weigh out 1 liang of each; avoid using iron utensils) 2 liang,Dodder Seeds (as small as mustard seeds; those that are extremely hard are best, while large and light ones are unsuitable; scoop them up with a clean cloth, rinse gently, dry in an oven, soak in wine overnight, strain, rinse off the wine with warm water, and dry thoroughly; grind separately) 2 liang,Pine Nut Kernels (select those that are red and moist; remove the shells to obtain the kernels, grind finely, and mix with the other ingredients as needed) 1 liang; Acorus Rhizome (select those that are compact and dense; remove the hairs, brush clean, dry in an oven, slice finely, and dry thoroughly) 1 liang;Goji Berries (white and plump; remove the stems, wash thoroughly, dry in an oven, soak in wine overnight, then dry in an oven) 1 liang, Digu Pi (yellow in color; those that feel light in the hand are good, while heavy ones are not; remove the outer layer, wash thoroughly, dry in an oven, slice thinly, then dry in an oven) 1 liang.

Processing
The above ingredients must not be sun-dried; use only low heat for roasting. If they become too dry, they will lose their medicinal properties. Dry them to 80% dryness, then blow on them lightly in a draft to create a contrast between hot and cold, which will dry them completely. Weigh the clean ingredients, grind them into a fine powder, and mix with honey refined over a fire to form pills the size of a Paulownia seed.
Instructions for Use
Take 70 pills per dose on an empty stomach, before meals, or at bedtime, with either salted wine or salted broth.
Note
Avoid consuming scallion whites, garlic chives, daikon radish, bean flour, lotus root, and all types of blood.
