Formulas Name : Five Beasts and Three Emptinesses Pill
Chinese Name : 五兽三匮丹
Drug Formulation
Deer antler (roasted with ghee), qilin jie (i.e., grass jie), tiger shin bone (sliced and roasted with ghee), achyranthes root (stem removed, soaked in wine), and dogspine (also a grass root, singed to remove hair)—each in equal parts (grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; this constitutes the ingredients for the Five Beasts Pill); cinnabar 1 liang (finely ground),1 large Aconite root (raw, with skin and navel removed; hollowed out by twisting the center; cinnabar inserted inside), 1 Xuan Wood Apple (core removed; skin thinly peeled; the prepared Aconite root inserted inside; the opening sealed with Aconite powder; placed upright in a silver warming pot; steamed in a double boiler until 10 parts soft—judged by the Aconite root turning white—this is the Three-Chamber Pill).

Processing
Grind the San Kui Dan into a paste, mix it with the “Five Beasts” powder, and form it into pills the size of a chicken’s egg.

Instructions for Use
Administer with papaya wine and Descending Qi Decoction.
