Drug Formulation

1.5 liang of yellow beeswax, 20 Mylabris beetles (heads, wings, and legs removed), 49 seeds of croton, 1 liang of Aconitum carmichaeli, 1 liang of Pinellia ternata, 1 liang of soapberry, 1 jin of sesame oil (boiled to remove wax),half a jin of lard, half a jin of white gum resin (first, simmer the Mylabris, Croton seeds, Aconite, Pinellia, and soap pods in sesame oil until the five ingredients are charred black; strain out the residue; then add the yellow beeswax, white gum resin, and lard, and simmer until a paste forms; store in a porcelain jar; mix in the powdered form of the 12 ingredients listed below, and melt the mixture over a double boiler to form a pill), 3 liang of Evodia,Cnidium seeds 3 liang, areca nut 3 liang, realgar 3 liang, Sichuan pepper half a liang, Lepidium 3 liang, white angelica 3 liang, Phellodendron bark 3 liang, Scutellaria root 3 liang, Sophora root 3 liang, white alum (calcined) 3 liang, and Lycium fruit 1 liang.

Instructions for Use

Mix the ingredients into a paste and apply it. When the itching causes the sores to itch and break, dip your finger in the medicine and rub it in; do not use too much medicine—just enough to rub it into the skin.

Note

Do not apply to the face, the genital areas of men and women, or the breasts; do not wash with hot water.
