Drug Formulation

Atractylodes macrocephala 2 qian and a half, Aquilaria agallocha 2 qian and a half, Black pepper 2 qian and a half, Dried tangerine peel (white pith removed) 5 qian, Astragalus membranaceus 5 qian, White mulberry bark 5 qian, Akebia trifoliata 5 qian, White pharbitis (roasted, using the fine powder) 2 liang.

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder.

Benefits

For women with masses, abdominal distension, chest fullness, and red or white vaginal discharge; chronic blood and qi deficiency manifesting as emaciation, sallowness, and weakness; as well as intermittent red or white dysentery; and cold-damp vaginal discharge.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 qian per dose. Use 5 slices of fresh ginger and 1.5 zhong of water; decoct until reduced to 1 zhong. Remove the ginger, mix the medicine, and take it before bedtime. Shortly thereafter, drink 3–5 sips of ginger tea or warm plain water to induce evacuation. This may be repeated 3–5 times by dawn, continuing until all harmful substances and foul-smelling discharge have been expelled. Follow with plain rice porridge for nourishment.

Note

Pregnant women must not take this formula; it must not be taken on overcast or gloomy days; and one must not eat dinner or consume meat, alcohol, or similar substances while taking the medicine.
