Drug Formulation

4 liang of yellow丹 (water-washed), 8 chezi (pitted and ground into a fine powder), 2 qian of white stingray bone, 1 liang of rock salt (ground separately), and 1 jin of pure white sand honey.

Processing

First, boil the honey to remove the white foam; add the yellow丹 first. Use 49 locust tree twigs; after a short while, add the remaining ingredients. Stir continuously in one direction until the honey turns purple and does not disperse when a drop is placed in water. Then, grind 2 liang of Coptis into a powder and add it to 3 large bowls of water. Boil the mixture in the medicinal pot until it comes to a boil several times. Wash the pot and the locust tree twigs used to hold the medicine thoroughly, then transfer the mixture to a separate porcelain container and let it settle.

Specifically for treating eye conditions such as wind-induced redness and cold tearing. The ointment prepared as described above may be applied to treat conditions such as cloudiness and white films on the cornea.
